Mobe's days

The day's disdain shall never refrain from the pain that the rain will wash away. But tomorrows sorrow shall give cause to claim that today's was just yesterday's gain

This is a free thought process to which I intend to entertain and insiniuate debate and humor into what I consider a banal universe. I implore you to leave comment or critique and also to question my purposes if you so desire. It is my intent to invoke creative thought and even a new perspective, though I do not expect all to want the invasion of their minds for the duration of my soapbox. I will censor nothing, but cannot promise that it won't be at a higher desk. Enjoy!~mobe

Doctor Mom (mobe)

anger cannot express the overwhelming sense of disappointment and contempt I have today. I have to play doctor and don another hat on top of the one's I'm wearing already. I change hats frequently and any woman can tell you that we wear several at once. Today I am patient, cook, accountant, staff sergeant, drill sergeant, mom, teacher and now, doctor.

It disturbs me that (In MY case but maybe not all) her father refuses to read the writing on the wall. He sent his daughter home injured and it just never crosses my mind to "get" her injured because I do not put her in harm's way or allow harm within inches of her. Protective much?-you ask? Possibly, but I feel I am not protective enough. And I feel he not only falls short of the mark he ain't even on the damn course let alone the greens! Lobo was ill, viral, from school last week. I know because she gave it to me and I have been weathering it pretty well, but she leaves after getting better and returns a mess! And on top of that she was bit by a spider. People get bit everyday in the woods and in their homes but it really is a rarity. If you have an infestation of pests whether they be roaches, ants, palmettos (BIG MAMA JAMA ROACHES! *giggles), scorpions, rats & mice, lice, bed bugs, ticks and spiders....you usually do all you can to rid them and if not you move. He has refused to do either and can see the writing on the wall right in "Charlotte's Web" and still acts as if there's no big deal. Well, "daddy-oh," MY baby girl HURTS today and hurt yesterday when you brought her home and Saturday night when it happened and you failed (epically) to notice! Luckily it isn't too toxic and thank god I read more than Stephen Hawkins because I know the difference between the two types of toxicities and the several North American culprits. Had it been a Recluse (no matter the color and yes, there is more than one color) she would suffer disfigurement in the time it took for her to come home. It usually takes effect within 18hrs...it's been 52. Had it been a Widow (no matter the color and yes, there is more than one color) she would be dead. The difference in these two is in what their toxins do.

A Recluse has a toxic venom that is flesh-eating/dissolving. It causes the tissue to liquefy and become necrotic ( I love that word! *giggles) and spread out from and epi-center creating a hole that continues to grow and expand like the Big Bang. The hole leaks yellowish puss that goes putrid after a couple of days and green. You can get gangrene from the open wounds and lose muscle, tissue and even skin. It is not a pretty sight when it heals and many people have been disfigured.

As for a Widow bite. It is different and its venom is a neuroparalytic toxin that attacks the nervous system and shuts you down, paralyzes you really, until your lungs fail and your heart stops. Many people have died from these bites and they are no laughing matter. One significant thing with a widow bite is the fact that the wound at first resembles a bad bee sting. Raised pink skin/flesh and the hole in the middle, only this one's a double puncture indicative of spiders. After a mere few minutes you get nauseous and even sweat. Within an hour you will notice a snake like tail coming off of the round pink patch of irritated skin and the tail always goes UPWARDS towards you heart. You will rarely find tails running down a leg or arm. They follow the blood flow and immediate action is needed when you've been bitten.

People should train their children in the hazardous bugs, arachnids, mammalia and fauna (vegetation) in their local areas. My kid didn't bring it to her father's attention. I noticed it, and feel if he was doing his job at some point he should have, but that's water under the bridge. Luckily it wasn't Widow and hopefully after another closely watched 24-48 hrs we will rule out Recluse. Note, there is no anti-venin for Recluse bites. Only for Widow bites. So it will have to run it's course and be controlled through antibiotics and antihistamines and anti-inflammatory medications and the affected or necrotic tissue removed, permanently scarring the individual (should it be found to be recluse).

Lobo is lucky her mom is a diligent doctor and took time out from her "sickies" gladly to keep vigil over her and know exactly what to do in each situation. She needs fluids and anti-inflammatory and antihistamines as we watch and wait for signs of necrosis. I love her dearly, and I think I do more than "others" who should but again, I keep telling myself it is water under the bridge. but just once! Just once I would like a free "DAY PASS" to drown the fucker in that river running under that bridge...just saying...lol.~mobe's love to her all and her all to her loves.
